My Hiker-man told me about a group at his work signing up for the Presidential Fitness Challenge this week- so I decided it might be fun to sign up, too!
President's Physical Fitness Challenge
It's like that same physical fitness test that I remember having to do in PE when I was a kid. It brings back memories to look on the web site and see those old emblems that I remember earning when I was a kid!!! It's just kinda neat, in a geeky nostalgic kind of way. ;-)
Anyway, I backtracked and logged in what few workouts I did for the last week, and then started today with the intense stuff. Shoulders & Arms from P90X... and I'd forgotten how great a tough resistance workout like that makes me feel!!! Just WHY though- do I put off my own enjoyment and pleasureable activities- for "when I get my work done"... and then the work never stops coming, so I never get around to doing my workouts?!?? I need to keep myself in mind a bit more... allow myself the "treat" of putting myself first enough- over the to-do list... to at least get that workout in. Instead of treating myself with the sweet treats... treat myself with the workouts.
It's just that the workouts take up much more time than eating chocolate. But geez- all the work I need to do around here- it will all still be around even if I take the time out to work out. Just like it will all come BACK around again, once I get the work done! Like laundry or sweeping the floors. It is just about the most never-ending job in this house... once I get done, it just starts getting dirty again! So what's an hour of putting it off?
It's just crazy how mental getting fit is... and how it's not all physical. You HAVE to get the mental part going right first, and then the physical stuff just falls into place.
So anyway... I'm around 1500 points on the Presidential Challenge... and I need 20,000 to get the bronze medal. I can't remember what the silver was, but I think the gold was 80,000 points. Not sure if I can reach that, but if I can at least get through the bronze, I think I will be able to lose those dratted 10 lbs that I'd gained back at the end of last year. I have til May 15th to get the points and do the Challenge... but the rest of my life to keep on working out.
---------------------------
Just biked about 15 minutes (fast pedaling) to kill some time before the kids are to go to bed... so now I'm at 1690 points! Keep it going, keep it going...
