End of Week 8 of TurboFire

Where have I been?!!? I haven't posted an update in over a month!

Okay- so I just finished up Week 8 of TurboFire... two months! Woohoo! But it wasn't the best month, unfortunately. After that first month was done, I was off on an out of town trip... went to Dallas for a Beachbody training conference- which was GREAT! I learned so much about what I can do to boost my Beachbody business! But it was also a time of being out of town- which meant eating out. Had some great dinners with my brothers and college friends while there- but oy... it was the start of more eating out.

After I got back from Dallas, I took off with my family for a road trip to California for about 2 wks. So while it was a BLAST and we had a great time- it was not good on my diet because of all the eating out!! Fast food! Restaurant food!! Lots of social eating- which is my toughest thing. I don't tend to overeat by myself (like how some eat while watching tv alone) but I tend to overeat while at family gatherings. So there ya go... the diet was somewhat trashed for half of the second month of TurboFire.

I'm always learning that no matter how much you exercise- if you don't EAT RIGHT... the exercise will only help you maintain, at best. You won't lose or improve!!

As far as the exercise goes... I tried to get TurboFire in when I could. Some days were missed... and others were caught up. But overall, I didn't do as well as I would've at home. I had to try to jump lighter and hold back because of those hotel rooms. Not enough space to really kick, having to stay quiet because I was working out while the kids were still sleeping, or trying not to jump because it would shake the people on the floor below. TurboFire ninja-style is just not the way to go! So many factors that kept me from upping the intensity the way I wanted to!! But still... it was better than nothing.

I'm thankful for my Shakeology... I kept up with that as one of my meals each day- so I avoided the junky carby foods of the hotel breakfasts. Or avoided one junky fast food lunch while on the road. I know that helped- so I didn't GAIN any weight despite all the food we ate. I used to gain 5-10 lbs each time I did a 2-wk vacation trip with the family. So it's a big deal that I managed to maintain!

And then since getting back home- I've been busy with my Beachbody business. I found some other active coaches in town (never knew they were here- thought I was the only one!) so we are now teaming up and working together to hopefully build ALL of our business connections and expand. We're working on setting up free Fit Clubs around town for people to experience different Beachbody workouts and learn how much FUN it can be, to have a group of supportive people on your fitness journey. You don't have to do it alone!

So today wraps up the "slower" TurboFire month and next month the HIIT workouts return! Yay for that!! My job at the nursing school starts back up, too- so it's good that the HIIT workouts are shorter. I could even fit one in during LUNCH if I wanted to- but not sure where I could do one yet. Maybe I can manage something, who knows? And the kids go back to school, too... so yes, a much busier time is coming up soon.

I love it that TurboFire has brought out that biceps groove inside my upper arm... NO MORE SAUSAGE ARMS!! That is a huge deal to me! So for that, I'm excited.

Now let's see what the upcoming month of HIIT workouts will do- while being at home where I have better control over my foods. You gotta have them BOTH. Diet AND exercise. Not just one or the other... or NONE.

For the past month, I haven't tracked my foods/calorie counts in SparkPeople... not sure yet if I will pick that back up again, as it takes up quite a bit of time. I might see if I can "fly solo" on that for awhile again. Tracking foods is important to see where you are and get stabilized- but I don't think I can actually track everything forever. It IS a lot of work to do... although I highly recommend it if you don't have a clue just what you're eating. Tracking is a good eye-opener when you're starting out or have lost your way.

The journey continues... TurboFire Rocks!!
